Thomas Rhett "Look What God Gave Her"

Thomas Rhett is the artist who delivered the hit song ‘Die a Happy Man’ and sometimes with that success it is hard to follow up with anything as good as that – but Rhett has managed to stay the course of his songwriting career, and his current release of ‘Look What God Gave Her’ (March 1) is yet another great tribute song to his wife, Laura Akins, who he married in February, 2012.

In February 2017, they announced that they were expecting a child (a girl) together in August and they adopted a baby girl from Uganda, Willa Gray Akins (b. November 1, 2015), on May 12, 2017. On August 12, 2017, they welcomed their second daughter, Ada James Akins Rhett mentions his wife and daughters in his song "Life Changes".

Just in time for the ‘feel good summer sunshine weather’, this song is already garnering attention after his performance on SNL on March 2, 2019.  In a statement, the singer described the poppy first single off his upcoming fourth studio album, Center Point Road (due out on May 31) as a “celebration of how awesome my wife is.”

The chorus captures his true emotions for his wife:

Look what God gave her
How perfect He made her
She walks in the room
It's like He answered my prayers
The way that she moves
How could anybody blame her?
I know she's got haters
But it ain't her fault, nah
Look what God gave her

“I was really glad we were able to nail this one,” Rhett added. “My wife is so beautiful, but at the same time she’s inwardly beautiful, she’s funny, she’s kind, she’s the best mom I know. It’s really just about thanking God for the human being He made, and singing it in a fun way.”

Rhett co-wrote the song with his father, Rhett Akins, as well as Julian Bunetta, John Ryan and J Cash. The Georgia native said the feel-good track is “the perfect song to take fans into summer.”

In support of his May CD release, Thomas Rhett will be hitting the road with the Very Hot Summer Tour (2019) with Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson and Rhett Akins.
